In the fourth quarter of 2025, the Office for Film, Newspaper and Article Administration (OFNAA) partnered with the Agency for Volunteer Service, the 1210th New Territories East Scout Group of the Scout Association of Hong Kong, and the Immigration Department Youth Leaders Corps to conduct three youth talks themed "Wise Use of Internet" for their members. The talks, of interactive nature, aimed to promote to the participants the correct handling of the pitfalls of online harmful information and scams, while emphasising the importance of healthy use of the Internet, and at the same time deepening their understanding of the Control of Obscene and Indecent Articles Ordinance (Cap. 390) (COIAO).
The three talks held on 25 October 2025, 1 November 2025 and 19 December 2025, attracted over 100 young participants. OFNAA's project officer introduced during the events the main content of the COIAO and the related works of OFNAA, other law enforcement departments, and the Obscene Articles Tribunal. Participants were also taught to remain vigilant against violent and pornographic content on the Internet to avoid being poisoned. OFNAA actively strengthens collaboration with various organisations and stakeholders, using diverse interactive experiences such as youth talks to spread the message of rejecting harmful information to a broader community, assisting young people to establish proper mindset for Internet usage, thereby showcasing the achievements of inter-departmental cooperation in promoting the related public education.
In the new year, OFNAA will continue to help children and young people stay away from obscene and indecent information online and promote the correct use of the Internet through various forms of publicity and public education activities.
